Conforme o \u00f3leo oxida, seus componentes qu\u00edmicos come\u00e7am a quebrar, formando subprodutos como lodo, \u00e1cidos e verniz. O verniz, especificamente, \u00e9 composto de res\u00edduos org\u00e2nicos oxidados que s\u00e3o inicialmente sol\u00faveis no \u00f3leo. No entanto, \u00e0 medida que o \u00f3leo continua a oxidar e sua capacidade de solv\u00eancia \u00e9 reduzida, esses subprodutos come\u00e7am a precipitar como part\u00edculas de tamanho geralmente menores que 1 micr\u00f4metro, o que dificulta sua elimina\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p>As \u00e1reas mais afetadas incluem superf\u00edcies met\u00e1licas, onde o verniz forma uma camada aderente e tenaz. Devido \u00e0 sua natureza polar, o verniz \u00e9 atra\u00eddo para superf\u00edcies met\u00e1licas, o que facilita sua ader\u00eancia e torna sua remo\u00e7\u00e3o particularmente dif\u00edcil. Al\u00e9m disso, o verniz tende a se formar em locais onde h\u00e1 fluxo lento de \u00f3leo ou onde a temperatura \u00e9 mais elevada, como em v\u00e1lvulas de controle, filtros e rolamentos.
